TheSTLDiner Sunday Brunch: Rooster’s South Grand

The best thing since starting my food blog in November, has been meeting so many fun loving people who enjoy food and sharing memories as much as I do. This past Sunday, Antonio Andre with TheSTLDiner and STL Foodie Awards invited me to brunch  at Rooster’s on South Grand with 14 other people. Four of us  (Antonio, Charlie and Christine (weeatstuff) and Christal (The Saint Louis Tasting Menu)) are local Saint Louis Food Bloggers.  Everyone else that came were friends who just love food as much as we do! It was a lovely time, and I am looking forward to future events with my new friends.

We thought we had reservations for 12:45 pm, however we found out when we got there they do not take reservations. It was  close to 1:45 before we were able to get a seat.  So we all grabbed a drink at the bar and observed our surroundings. We took a few selfies together, and compared pictures of food on our phone! Rooster’s much like Bailey’s Range  (they are owned by the same family) has a unique set up to it. It is a very open space, with long communal tables.  You could end up sitting by people you don’t know! Who knows, maybe you will make a bff and share dishes :). There are drawings of roosters up everywhere that children from one of the local schools painted . One of them had a rooster with a disco ball haha. They have really nice outdoor seating. It was raining and incredibly muggy so we sat inside, otherwise we would have been outside!

The first cocktail I ordered was called Champagne Supernova and wowsa. My mouth is still watering from it. As you probably know by now, I love a lot of different flavors mixed together. This drink was crazy good. It had watermelon, strawberry, black peppercorns, cava and white vinegar. The white vinegar was a surprise to my taste buds and it made them so happy : ). After brunch I had a mimosa, you can never go wrong with a mimosa. Christine ordered  Sunburnt White Russian, and Charlie ordered the Brieux Carrè.  Both were coffee inspired libations perfect for a brunch. ooo lala Christal ordered the Green with Envy. I thought she ordered a healthy smoothie, but it is a green tea-infused vodka drink with cucumber, cilantro, mint and other deliciousness. We put all of our glasses together just so you could see a picture of them all!

We were all so hungry at this point, and I was super duper hungry. I ordered two meals haha. I ordered the Nutella crepe with strawberries and bananas, and an egg with bacon and toast. I am so glad I did too, because I ate it all and probably could have eaten a third dish, but I refrained. Several people ordered the scrambled dishes ( 3 eggs over potatoes with your choice of many sides), and one person ordered the Rooster Slinger. I loved my Nutella crepe. My egg was cooked perfectly. It seems I always have to send my eggs back because they are overcooked, but it was perfect here. One of the girls, Lindy, had to send her eggs back because they were overcooked, but our server was great about it, and she had her meal out with the eggs cooked correctly in no time. There were no complaints from anyone, and everyones plates were wiped clean.

Thanks to Antonio for these next two pics. I didn’t make my rounds to take pics. I was to busy stuffing my face with a chocolate crepe :P.

We had a great time discussing our food blogging ideas and how we can work together. It was seriously a great time! There is a lot to look forward to!

Our service was great. Our server was very attentive, food came out quickly, and was fresh and delicious. Our cocktails were on point! The only downfall is that because of our large group it did take a while to be seated, since they don’t take reservations. However, we were just happy they were able to accommodate us and we had more time to talk to each other. OH! They do not have televisions and I love it. It forces you to really sit and talk to the people you are with!  So if you are hoping to catch a big game, Rooster’s is not where you will want to go. It is very affordable, the most expensive dish I saw was $12 and that was salmon : ).

So go have a coffee libation and enjoy delicious brunch at Rooster’s and let them know you have already heard all about it :).

Until our next foodie gathering Thursday at Sugar Fire,
