The Hot Pot to Eat in Kirkwood

The New Year is right around the corner and if you are like me, making healthier choices is always on my New Year’s resolution. The Hot Pot is the perfect restaurant to make this happen.

I have been to The Hot Pot a few time now and have been completely satisfied and excited every time to eat delicious food, that smells so good and tastes even better.

The Hot Pot has a very calming and motivational atmosphere, with artwork on the walls and a chalkboard with detailed descriptions of the food. Jack Johnson was playing in the background, and easy listening soft rock was the genre.

Greg, the owner, goes by the name of Chef Boss, which is fitting because he makes the food at hot pot his Boss.
The concept is really neat. First you pick the meat, which could be local chicken, spicy beef (delicious), shrimp, pork, tofu or veggie. Then you get to pick the veggies, ranging from broccoli, tomatoes, peppers, nappa cabbage, and 6 other choices. The price includes one or all 11 of the vegetables.
Then you get to pick your sauce, and it ranges from green curry, green or garlic chili to poblano pesto. Lastly, you get to pick the carb to go with it, which could be Thai noodles, brown rice, quinoa, and 4 other choices.

Then you wait for all the fresh food to be cooked and they bring it out to you. They also have organic soda and they do healthy veggie juice drinks. All of their hot sauce is is homemade, and they have 7 of them. One of them is a ghost pepper sauce. Joe and I both tried the ghost paper sauce whoooooooo it is hot. They have a sign up that says don’t be a piggie a little goes a long way. They also sell their hot sauce, Joe got three of them in his stocking this year! He got Lucky Cat, Don’t Mess with Ginger, and Bad Kitty.

Doesn’t this look delicious? It was outstanding, and my coworkers could smell it from the lunch room. I picked Thai noodles, with spicy beef, poblano pesto, all of the veggies except for sweet peppers and mushrooms. It had a lot of garlic and was just incredible. The beef was tender and so flavorful.
I felt wonderful and healthy eating it as well. It is no surprise being a foodie, I do not eat as healthy as I should. I felt very nourished after eating my meal.
The portions are enough for two people. My husband and I shared a meal, and it was the perfect t amount to eat and be satisfied. When I go here for lunch by myself, I eat half and save the rest for lunch the next day.

They cater to the Paleo diet and clean eating, cross fitters, and of course anyone who wants delicious food that is also good for them. IMG_0436

I also tried the juices and got a Dirty Apple, which had beet, apple, ginger, and carrot. I really liked it and would definitely get it again! Everyone should be a little dirty once in a while 🙂

The owners plan to open up a new restaurant in Frontenac 2015, and while it will not be another Hot Pot, it will have a similar concept. They will share more details when the time is right :).   They have also been expanding their menu to have dinner, that has a lot of TLC and creative healthy options. They will also be adding new juices to their menu.

If you are looking for a unique place to grab food that is also good for you, The Hot Pot is the place to be!  Hot Pot, a quirky conscious eatery.
