Small Batch Whisky & Fare: A Vegetarian Feast

The Saint Louis foodies were at it again! We had our April  #stlfoodieseatup  at Small Batch Whisky & Fare downtown on Locust Street!  It is owned by the same family that owns Rooster’s and all of the Bailey’s Restaurants.

It was a smaller group this time! Mike, @gusgusfunbus, Charlie and Christine, @weeatstuff and I enjoyed really tasty food, wonderful service and a very modern, decorative set up.

We all ordered a cocktail! I had to order the Snap and Tickle. The name cracked me up, and  it sounded refreshing. It definetly was! The Snap and Tickle consisted of gin, strawberries, lemon, st germain and snap pea vermouth.  Mike ordered the Rum Julep, which had rum and mint. Christine ordered the Local Brew, which had a milk washed bourbon, Cointreau, cold brew and bitters.  We all really liked what we ordered. My drink was very refreshing

Our server was telling us about the awesome wallpaper and decorations. The owners wife is  an interior Designer and decorated Small Batch. The wallpaper is very cool, and was created just for Small Batch! I loved the black and white photos on the walls and how open the restaurant was.

We enjoyed conversation all around food. we times about local chefs that were nominated for the James Beard award, new restaurants opening and inside scoop for foodies.

Two of us ordered the Slinger and the other two ordered the Chorizo Hash. It wasn’t until I mentioned how much I loved the flavor of the gravy and how it did not have sausage that  I found out the entire menu is vegetarian.  The Slinger had  two eggs on top of biscuits with gravy and spinach, and cremini mushrooms.  The Chorizo Hash had pico de gallo, potatoe, ranchero, eggs and jalepeño queso. I did not get to try it, but Mike and Charlie cleaned there plate!!!

I am not a vegetarian, but I eat like a vegetarian often, especially when I go out to eat. I love the concept of Small Batch being a no meat restaurant, and their variety of whisky. Below are a sneak peek of the brunch menu and whisky list.

Until our next #stlfoodieseatup,

Lisa Annie
