Prasino

Recently I  made the voyage out to St.Charles for a dinner date with my friends Christine, Christal, and her friend Rick. While it seems a lot of  St. Louisans act like the cities and counties with in St. Louis are hours away from each other,  in reality they are only 30-40 minutes apart. 😜 I know I am guilty of  thinking St. Charles is too far to drive from the city as well, but I am very happy that we made the drive for Prasino and will be definitely make the drive to St Charles more often, as I’m sure there are many other delicious places to try.

Prasino is located right near the heart of downtown St.Charles. It is in a newly built area, has a parking garage (made parking really convenient), and was pretty easy to find.  I absolutely loved the lay out and design of Prasino. The lights above the bar when you walk in are gigantic light bulbs. There is a private room for parties, that is also a wine room. It has an indoor/outdoor bar area, and the dining room floor is open  and spacious.

Look how cool these light fixtures are. I love them.

Christine, Rick, and I started out with a cocktail from the bar while we waited for Christal to arrive. Christal is the owner of STL Tasting Menu, and wears many hats in the foodie world in St. Louis.  If you love meeting new people and trying new food, Christal is your go to person in St. Louis. She organizes dinners through meetup. Check her out on Facebook and Twitter.  I started out with a Manhattan, and then got a cocktail with habanero and tequila with my meal.  My only complaint about the Manhattan is that I was not given a choice for up or on the rocks, and I prefer on the rocks. It was very good though.

Lobster Avocado: It had juicy lobster rolled into a ball sat on top of avocado. The sauce was tasty! The lobster was juicy and cooked perfectly.

Flatbread Pizza with bacon, white cheddar, caramelized onions and thyme. This was soo good. This is one that I will try to make at home next pizza night. Just thinking about this pizza is making me hungry and I already had dinner tonight.  #nomnonom

Tuna Tartare: Tuna was fresh, and the sauce was mouth watering. It tasted like it had sriracha in it, but also honey or something else that made it a little sweet but with a kick. The sauce is called firecracker.

Cauliflower gratin.:

Everyone wanted more of this dish!

Truffled Potatoes: Everyone else loved this. I thought they were good, but I was not in love with it! Based on everyone else’s reaction though, you should definitely order this side if you haven’t already had it!

Crunchy Shrimp and Salmon Roll: We discussed this role in depth during dinner because it cost $20.  Although the ingredients were fresh and the 10 pieces were large, it is not something we would order again. It was mind blowing enough to justify  the $20 for one roll.

Pappardelle: Chorizo Seitan, feta, Heirloom tomatoes, squash, fresno and swiss chard. I was not sure what Chorizo Seitan was, so I googled it. In case you didn’t know either it Chorizo with these ingredients: Vital wheat gluten, water, apple cider vinegar, garlic, guajillo, oregano, sea salt, onion, cumin, black pepper, soy sauce.

Chocolate creme brûlée with jam on the top. This was perfectly crunchy, creamy and chocolatey. The jam was that little bit of extra that really made this dessert….seriously scrumptious.

We ordered so much food, and of course had to save room for the dessert above. We took home some of the Pappardelle. The to go container is biodegradable. This is a great concept! It went on our compost!

Several people had told me that Prasino was amazing and worth driving all the way to St. Charles for :P. I would have to agree with what I was told 100%. The service was great, food was incredible, it was moderately priced, and the atmosphere was really lovely.

Until my next adventure within St. Louis that feels like it is out of state,

Lisa Annie

XOXO
