Blue Sky Tower Grill

Two of my girlfriends and I decided to catch up over a happy hour on Friday night. Blue Sky Tower Grill in Brentwood is super close to where we live, and they have 60 martinis on their menu. It sounded perfect and what we were in the mood for.

I really liked what I saw when I walked in! Dim lights, black and red decorations, and plaques with names on them covered the wall above the bar. They had oldies music playing in the background, loud enough to hear but soft enough we could still here each other.

Our server, introduced himself and took our drink order. He then explained why the plaques with names on it were on the wall. Blue Sky has 60 martinis on the menu. If you try 52 of them, your name gets out on a plaque, and you get a $50  card. They number all of the martinis and then give you a punch card! I thought this is kind of a fun way to bring in more business!

We started out each ordering a martini of course. Some of the names are a little provocative. Oooh lala. We ordered G-spot, Surf’s up, and Italian Job! Italian Job was mine :). I have to represent being Italian every chance I get lol.

They were very tasty!! Mine was sweet, and my girlfriends liked it the most. I liked the Surf’s Up the best.

We thought we would share a few appetizers, and ordered the Buffalo Bites, which consisted of chicken fingers and tator tots fried with buffalo sauce and Harry’s chips and cheese.

The manager brought our food, and did not ask if we needed anything else. We had no silverware. Jared did not check on us, and finally my friend went to a table next to us and grabbed silverware so we could eat.

The chips were over cooked and very crispy, but the cheese sauce was good. However, the buffalo bites were really bad. I took one bite and could not eat another bite. Something was very off with them. All three of us thought the same thing. Christine even tried them twice. After 15 minutes, he finally checked on us. He made a comment about us not eating the buffalo bites. I kindly explained to him that we did not like our appetizer, but would like something else. He was extremely rude to me. He asked us why, and we told him something tasted off, not sure what but that none of us thought it tasted good. He took our plate, and did not come back to see if we wanted anything else.

Next thing we know, the manager comes over and asks us why we didn’t like the food. We explained to him the same thing we told our server. He then just walked away, and also did not ask us if we would like anything else to replace it. It seemed that we offended them greatly by not liking the dish.

We sat with empty glasses for 5 or so minutes after this. We decided to have one more cocktail and then grab a bite elsewhere. We should have left at this point, but thought we would each try one more round of martinis.

Our server finally came back to our table and then just stood there and staired at me. My girlfriends and I just exchanged glances. It made us really uncomfortable. Kelly ordered her next martini, and then I did. I wanted to get this martini that had gin, agave nectar and lime juice. I enjoy all three of these. Jared looked me straight in the eyes and told me not to order it, because he didn’t think I would like it. He told me he did not want me to send it back, and to order something else.  He then very rudely told me I should stay clear of two ones martinis. At this point, I am very upset. One, how would he know what I like or do not like? Two, what?! How rude!  My friend Christine finishes ordering her next martini. We should have canceled this order and just left, but we were in shock with  how we were being treated.

We talked about our server and his unnecessary  comments after he left and contemplated talking to a manager. However, the managaer was rude to us as well, so we said forget it. Both of my girlfriends said to just blog about it.

So we got our checks, and asked our server for the punch card for the martinis we ordered. I have no desire to go back, but in case I wanted to give them another chance thought I should get one. I spent the money, so might as well get rewarded for it right?! He told us they were out of the punch card, but to ask for him next time. He said to us, ” Just ask me for, I will remember you and that you each had two martini’s.” He it said with such a sarcastic tone; I just couldn’t believe the rudeness was continuing. We paid our tab and continued chatting while we finished our martinis. He then came by and took the receipts off of our table.

We all thought that was poor etiquette. He had other tables, and could have waited until we left to pick up the receipts.

Overall the experience was really crappy. The drinks were tasty, and the concept of the place is fun! However, being served stale chips, an appetizer we didn’t like, and being treated the way we were for voicing our concerns and options is enough for me to never go back here again. I never say never though, maybe the future will say differently.

Until my next night out!!
