I recently had lunch at the Budweiser Brew House downtown in BallPark Village. I had no intentions of blogging about it because I want to support local St. Louis businesses . It has been a few years since InBev bought Anheuser Busch, which put a damper on Budweiser products for me. I can’t remember the last time I bought Budweiser beer to drink at home. My husband and I have been avid St. Louis micro brewery fans. Even though it is no longer owned by a local family, it is still a huge part of Saint Louis. So when a friend of mine asked me to check out the Brew House I decided to. My friend works at The Bud Shop, which is a little boutique shop that sells Saint Louis Blues and Cardinal gear and is located inside the restaurant.
The restaurant is located downtown Saint Louis in Ballpark Village. If you eat, drink, or shop at the Brew House they will validate your parking which is a great perk!!!
It is a huge restaurant, with several bars and televisions everywhere, and an entrance into Ball Park Village with the mega tv. If you look close enough at the first picture you can see that the little squares are loads of beer bottles. They had modern music playing, top hits that were upbeat and catchy.
I started with a red sangria and Joe was reaching for the mountains with a tall BUSCH beer haha. Our server let us sample this beer called Faust. This is a prohibition lager beer recipe that was found in their archives. It was named after a family friend. I didn’t like it, but was grateful that we were able to sample it.
.
When we ordered our appetizer our server let us know that they were transitioning to a new menu that would be rolled out by Dec 2. The new menu should be available now.
We started with wings and toasted ravioli. The wings were not my favorite at all, nor my husbands. They had double breading on them and were not crispy enough. The T-ravs were delicious and I am going out on a limb here by saying they are my favorite T-ravs in town. They were filled with portabello mushroom and parmesan cheese and served with a pomodoro sauce.
I had blackened MahiMahi with a pineapple slaw over rice. Joe had already eaten lunch when he met me here, so he didn’t have an entree. My meal was delicious. It was seasoned well, and was juicy and tender. It fell apart with my fork. The rice was tasty too. I have since had MahiMahi out a few times and it has not been as good as the Brew House’s.
My friend had the chicken apple blue cheese salad. It is her favorite salad there! It has slice apples, candied walnuts, blue cheese crumbles, diced chicken, dried cherries, smoked bacon, with ranch dressing. #yum
Dessert was delicious. It was one of the best Gooey Butter Cakes I have had. The vanilla ice cream was so flavorful. The presentation was pretty too.
After lunch we stopped by the Bud Shop. They have the CUTEST STL sports attire, candles, headbands, house decorations, scarfs, jewelry, and more. It would be a great place to get your family and friends, who love the Blues and Cardinals, a Christmas/Holiday gift. #hinthint 😛
When you go say Hi to Kristin. She will love that you stopped by! <3
I was really glad that I went, the food was better than I expected, and although I am not on the Budweiser beer train it was worth checking out.
Until my next lunch adventure,
Lisa Annie
