5 Reasons St Louisans should all use Uber

It seems to be a common thought that St. Louisans  drink and drive a  lot  more than people who live in other cities.  Our public transportation system is broken and now that Uber is in St. Louis I truly hope it helps to change the culture of drinking and driving in Saint Louis, especially in the counties. I know I have been guilty of driving when I should not have been. It is not something to be proud of and are lessons to learn from, for myself and anyone reading this post. We have only had Uber a little while but it has changed my perspective on even having a single beer and getting behind the wheel.

Here is why you should signup for Uber.

It’s incredibly easy and in several cities across the world

All of you have to do is download the app and put in your PayPal or payment method (credit card). When you need an Uber  open your app and  choose your pick up location and destination. The app shows you how many uber drivers are in the area and you can track them via gps. It pings a driver and woolah with in minutes you know who is picking you up and when they will arrive.

It’s quick

If you aren’t tracking the arrival of your driver don’t worry. You will get a text when your driver arrives! When you get to your destination all you have to do is get out of the car. There is zero cash exchanged. You simply log into your app and hit the pay button. You can add your tip and rate your driver with a tap on your phone. Easy peasy! If you are. sharing the ride with friends you can split the fair. The app shows you how.

Uber  holds you (the passenger) and  the driver accountable.

When you are done with your uber, you can rate the driver. It lets you rate the driver out of 5 on these topics, did the car meet your standards (was it clean?), professionalism, driving, and other. The driver can rate you. So if you are being a disrespectful butt then you will have a low uber score and no one will pick you up. If the uber driver that pings to pick you up has a low score and you don’t want him/her to pick you up, simply cancel the request and send another one. It cancels the request with that driver and a different one will respond.  Basically- as long as you are not an asshole you should be just fine with Uber.

It’s cheap but becareful of taxi scams

It is so much cheaper than taxis. Uber works out the price based on the demand. If you send a request for pick up and have several cars near you, it will be a cheaper fair. If there is only 1 uber driver, it might be more expensive. It’s up to you to decide if it is worth the cost of not drinking and driving. (Hint uber should always win this decision)

When you request an Uber driver as mentioned above, the name of the driver and make/mode of the car shows up so you know whom to expect. If anyone other than that shows up, don’t get in the car.

Taxi drivers have been signing up for uber to get fairs but not using uber for the ride. They might tell you there car is in the shop and the taxi is the only option. If you get in an accident (heaven forbid) Uber will not cover it because you got in a car that uber does not have registered. Make sure the driver and car match  the description uber gives you otherwise politely decline the ride.

It’s your own personal chauffeur

Maybe the excitement of feeling like you have your own personal driver will wear off but I doubt it lol.

My husband and I have met some really cool people who have driven us. They all have one thing in common. They want to keep the roads safe from drunk drivers and as a bonus make a little mooolah.
Download the app and start ubering today.
