I have been on a serious Thai kick lately. It is a cuisine I did not grow up with, and now cannot get enough of. My husband started working in South County a little over a year ago, and stumbled across this little gem of a restaurant and South County favorite, Pad Thai. They have 66 reviews on Yelp and have a 4.5 star rating!
It is located on the corner of a strip mall on Tesson Ferry Road. It is a small and charming restaurant. It has a few tables that seat 4 people, but most of the tables only seat 2 people. There are 3 tables for outside seating. They have a little area on a wall by their kitchen that is for their regulars. They put up pictures of regulars that come in. We haven’t made the list, but I think my husband will make the board!
The first time I had Pad Thai, and for many times after I always had the Tom Yum soup. They have different levels of spice and flavor. I started with level 4 and just recently had level 5!!! This soup is incredible. It is flavorful beyond belief and has all fresh vegetables such as: mushrooms, onions, carrots, sugar snap peas, baby corn, and stewed tomatoes. It is spicy, hearty, and brothy. The level 4 and 5 spicy sound extremely hot, but they are not. Don’t get me wrong they are spicy, but it is more flavor than hot. It opened up my sinuses, but did not make me cry. I was really sick earlier this year, and my body craved Tom Yum soup. It is very nourishing.
I always start with potstickers and edamame, and occasionally spring rolls. The potstickers are chicken and one of our favorites here. They are fried verses pan seared, and the dipping sauce is tasty.
We have had their Drunken Noodle, Pad Broccoli, Phad Thai, Spicy Beef, and the Pad Pri King. Most of their dishes come with just vegetables and then you can add the meat of your choice (chicken, beef, or shrimp). This last time I went, I finally ordered the Level 5 spicy. I had been wanting to try it for a while, but was nervous. I tried it on the Pad Pri King, our server recommended this dish to me. I made my friend try it first haha. I enjoyed it greatly! The first bite gave me goosebumps because it was so good, and the spice creeps up on you after each bite.
Pad Pri King
Pad Thai
Pad Broccoli ( with Beef)
Spicy Basil (with Chicken)
I am still working on a list of our top 5 Thai restaurants to eat in St. Louis. Pad Thai is definitely on our list. Not only is the food fantastic, but it is very moderately priced ( our bill is normally 20-25 dollars and you get a lot of food), and the service is always great! It has inspired me to learn more about the cuisine, so I can cook more of it at home.
Until our next delightful restaurant,
Lisa Annie
